Symas Unified User Management is available through an annual support subscription. There is no free version. Evaluation copies of current versions of UUM can be obtained under an Evaluation Agreement; for more information, contact us through our sales email address.

Support for the standard UUM distribution includes maintenance of the source and binary software products as normal Open Source Software project activity updates the software, access to any updated versions of the UUM binary distributions made and posted during the subscription period, and defect corrections for defects in the software as delivered. Defects are limited to functional failures in functionality originally programmed into the software and do not include extensions or improvements which can be requested under separate development contracts. Technical support for UUM does not include any technical support for the LDAP directories which the libraries are configured to connect to or applications which invoke the libraries or for the configuration files (nsswitch.conf or pam.conf). Symas will assist in isolating the root causes of problems to UUM or one of those others but will only provide support for UUM itself. UUM support includes unlimited technical support via email with the understanding that the support email line is only officially staffed during Symas's normal business hours.

Unified User Management requires extensive integration into your environment and Symas offers a specific service to help. The UUM Configuration Management Option (CMO) provides customized configuration files to fit your requirements. The customized files are provided in the native installer format for your system(s). There are two costs associated with the CMO: Development Services to prepare and package the configuration files and the maintenance fee for each system on which CMO will be used. Initial development of CMO configuration files and installers costs $6,000US per platform. The annual subscription cost for each system on which CMO packages are installed is $20US. The discounts for high volume UUM users electing to use the CMO service are the same as for UUM (10% for installations with more than 400 systems under subscription).

Symas offers planning, design, development, testing, and integration services under consulting contracts. We are available either directly to end-user enterprises or to or through OEM partners.

Our standard consulting rate is $250US per hour. This is the standard rate for short-term engagements, particularly those with uncertain work-scopes. Reduced rates for larger commitments of consulting time will be considered.

Symas also undertakes work of this type under fixed-price, fixed delivery date contracts. Many of our development contracts are done with such terms. Preparation of proposals is often done under design contracts. Assuming the scope of work is well defined, design projects can also be fixed-priced.

The most common development work we undertake are projects to add features to OpenLDAP or other Open Source software projects. We generally get assurances from the Project communities that such enhancements or extensions will be accepted by the community on completion and perform the work specifically to be contributed at the end of the project. For such projects, we perform the development at our cost of engineering, testing, and delivery, turning the code over to the upstream project under their normal license (with attribution to the party funding development). Development outside that model is done at higher unit costs and requires special Technical Support agreements (and is rarely justifiable).

Symas offers several training courses under the general name LDAP University. The most popular are:

• LDAP Bootcamp ("Week of LDAP") (5 - days)
• OpenLDAP for Systems Administrators (3 - 5 days, customizable)
• Unified User Management for System Administrators (2 days)

When Symas produces the course and offers it for public attendance, the cost is $850US per student per day plus the cost of course materials. Public courses are, however, rare. Symas only offers them when a number of individuals have alerted us to their desire to be trained that way. Please let us know if you are interested.

On-site training is the most common LDAP University activity. If your enterprise wants to train several people at once and to hold the training on your site, the cost is $2,000US per day exclusive of travel expenses.
