High-performance LDAP Directory Services based on OpenLDAP and other Open Source software

Symas OpenLDAP contains everything you need to deploy high-performance, robust, and secure LDAP directory services most platforms (UNIX, AIX, Mac OSX, and Windows). Compiled and tested binaries, Symas OpenLDAP installs using native OS installation tools.

Symas OpenLDAP is streamlined for simplicity of setup and administration. It includes a choice of two high-performance transaction-oriented databases: a hierarchical database based on Oracle Berkeley DB and a memory database (mdb) with the same capabilities based on a new Open Source in-memory b-tree technology. Both of these databases can be backed up while the server is running and automatically recovery after power failures or system crashes. Symas OpenLDAP also includes support for secure authentication methods, encryption, and replication. Symas OpenLDAP includes major components from recent versions of the following Open Source distributions:

• OpenLDAP
• Berkeley DB
• OpenSSL
• Cyrus SASL
• Heimdal Kerberos

Symas OpenLDAP is available in two tiers:

• Symas OpenLDAP Gold is the professional tier of Symas OpenLDAP. This edition includes a collection of modules that are not in Silver. These modules offer capabilities that go well beyond basic Directory Services. Many of these modules were developed by Symas, that implement functions such as password policy management, attribute uniqueness, referential integrity, database translucency, attribute constraints, and more. Symas OpenLDAP Gold also includes the database connectivity backends back-ldap and back-meta. Symas OpenLDAP Gold is available under an annual support, maintenance, and update subscription.
• Symas OpenLDAP Silver is the basic Symas OpenLDAP platform, intended for simple deployments where cost is a significant factor. Symas OpenLDAP Silver is available for free download for personal and commercial use and does not include any Symas support or maintenance services.

In addition to these standard offerings, Symas can provide full-service assistance for new deployments, or can help replace an existing directory infrastructure. We also offer custom development services to assist with deployment challenges, to provide extensions for integration with other applications, or for modifications to Open Source software.
