The OpenLDAP Project operates on a two-stream release model, consisting of a Long-Term Support (LTS) release and one or more active Feature Releases (FRs). Symas matches this model. The LTS release serves as a stable, long-term base. The Feature releases (FR) build on that with new features and capabilities. Symas will support the LTS release and the current Feature Release with some limited overlaps. You may choose either the LTS release for rock-solid, set-it-and-forget-it stability with only patch and security fixes OR the Feature Release for staying at the head of the feature stream in a supported release. Periodically a Feature Release will be promoted to an LTS release and the cycle will start all over again.

The next Feature Relase, OpenLDAP 2.7, will be announced later this year.
