Pioneering OpenLDAP Since 1999
History
Symas Corporation was founded in 1999. It is a Delaware C Corporation. Two of the three Founders, Matthew Hardin and Marty Heyman, remain in executive positions. Howard Chu, CTO and Chief Architect of the OpenLDAP Project, joined within weeks and is considered a Founder as well.
Symas has invested in OpenLDAP development since the beginning. Our Technical Support and Professional Services are focused on expanding adoption of OpenLDAP and establishing it as the Industry Standard LDAP Software.
Symas currently has a staff of nineteen. Thirteen, including management, are technical contributors. Four are dedicated to Support. Another four are active Support resources. Five are actively involved in OpenLDAP-related development.
Current Business Posture
A Distributed, Financially Sound Company
Symas is financially sound. We have been profitable since 2007 and are carrying no debt.
We are an entirely virtual company. We have had a work-from-home policy from the founding. We currently have five people outside the US, including Ireland, the UK, and Bulgaria. The remainder are spread across all four time zones of the US.
